The Wheel of Conventions turns, and Cosplays come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Convention that gave it birth comes again. In one Age, called 2018 by some, an Age yet to come, an Age long past, a wind rose outside of Atlanta, Georgia. The wind was not the beginning. There are neither beginnings nor endings to the turning of the Wheel of Conventions. But it was a beginning.

The wind spoke, to those with ears trained to listen. It spoke of Aes Sedai prowling the halls in search of False Dragons, and ta’veren tossing the dice. It spoke of wizards far from their homes in Chicago. It spoke of bridgemen and havahs and those who used metals to power their magic. It spoke of blademasters, daring those who might challenge them. It spoke of monsters and men, and it spoke of talent, and love, and joy.

Here is but a sampling of that wind, captured for your enjoyment. May the Cosplayers ride again upon the winds of time.

We will begin our journey with cosplays representing Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time, as befits JordanCon. Photography/editing is by the author, unless otherwise noted. All images used with permission by the models.

Our journey to the White Tower complete, we now move on to a different Age, indeed… a different universe. The worlds of Brandon Sanderson’s Cosmere are varied, and their peoples even more so. I saw a wide variety of cosplays from Mistborn and The Stormlight Archive represented at JordanCon—here are but a few that I and my fellow photographer managed to capture.

While JordanCon’s programming is primarily for Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson’s works, the convention also welcomes a wider variety of fantasy fiction fandom. Cosplays from other book series, tv shows, video games, original designs, as well as historical outfits are welcomed and celebrated as well.

Cersei Lannister (A Song of Ice and Fire), Yashuntafun Cosplay
Harry Dresden (The Dresden Files), Zach Blair (aka Innocent Bystander)
Molly Carpenter (The Dresden Files), Linnea Lindstrom
Rita Skeeter (Harry Potter series), Ellie Raine

Well, that’s all for this year! There were so many more wonderful cosplayers that we missed getting photos of—if you’re one of them, please feel free to share in the comments!

These were very delightful to look at!!  Thanks for chronicling these and putting them up here for those of us who weren’t there.  Great job to all the many talented cosplayers here.  :)

Awww… you used the WoT prologue.  <3

And yes, a great collection of costumes Lyndsey – including your own.
I’m not sure how well the “stormlight” in Veil’s hand shows up, but it was fun to walk around with.

The photo of Egwene Al’Vere, Jessie Lykens, looks almost photoshoped.   The background is so perfect.   But the hotel garden really was that perfect.   Next year I hope to walk in it some.

Wow. When reading the opening almost makes you tear up it must be time for a WoT reread! Thanks for sharing, the costumes look great! I hope I can come next year-fingers crosses to the max (or does that undo all of it…).

@2 Braid tug- it was in the hotel garden? Wow, I thought you’d have to get out of town to take pics like that.

Thanks for sharing! You’re all the best.

Amazing costumes, excellent photography. It’s so cool to have a setting like that to take such gorgeous pictures, and someone who knows what they’re doing to get them well posed. Thanks!!

They are all awesome!  My two favorites, though, are Liandrin (the hair is SO perfect!) and Lyndsey’s Adolin (yay Adolin!).

Lyndsey – that intro was magical.  Thank you.

And is that you cosplaying as you?  Love it!

All these are superb.  Off at a complete tangent, The Harry Dresden artist’s name made me chuckle, though… :)

“Do you consider yourself an innocent bystander?”

“God knows I try to be!”

The costumes are amazing, thank you for sharing. So many are just plain awesome.

I love your Adolin Lyn: you even had Maya!

Yay I made the cut!

Side note: Did not connect that the Lyndsey I was chatting with at JordanCon was the same one that wrote the Oathbringer Reread that I read weekly. D’oh! Kind of feeling foolish now.

I’ve never been to a con but I love seeing the cos play costumes. Thank you. Steris was my personal favorite because I like her so much but they are all wonderful.

I learned long ago that any costume that requires heavy make-up is a killer for all day. That poor Koloss player. His skin must have felt weird under all that blue.

They need to rename that contest in Leslie’s honor, at this point, lol.

I loved looking at all of these pictures.  I was excited to see a Steris :)  But I also really loved the Graendal. At first I thought it might be Moiraine (blue dress) and wondered why she was all vamped up :)
